Knowing Him, loving others, walking together.
The Rock Church is a community of people dedicated to loving God, loving people and allowing his kingdom to be built in us and through us.
In this exciting time, God has revealed to us a vision for the faith community that He has destined us to become. This vision has revealed His plan for us to focus our passion and resources into three simple, but significant priorities: knowing Him, loving others, and walking together.
These priorities have come to define who we are and are expressed in everything we do as a community.
Knowing Him
Knowing Him is not about acquiring head knowledge of God. It is about growing in intimacy and relationship with Him. Obviously along the way you learn more about Him, but true knowledge is not just information, it is also experienced. And that is what happens in the “word & worship” encounters we build in our services every Sunday. It is what happens in our transformational discipleship programmes and in our prayer gatherings.
Loving Others
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God and to love others [Mark 12:30-31]. We take that two-pronged commandment very seriously here at The Rock. Our commitment to love, starts with our own family, as we seek to serve one another and humbly put the needs of each other before our own [1 John 3:16]. It also drives us to look out beyond our own community to reach and serve those in the world around us, both here in Wellington, and around the globe. God has called us to be His hands, His feet, and His voice, and He is transforming lives all over the world through our partnerships in Cambodia, and various local community outreaches.
Walking Together
God’s plan for us has always been community, right from the Garden of Eden, it was never good when we were alone. The Rock is a community of faith, united in love, in purpose, and in the Spirit of God. We are committed to walking this faith journey together, sharing both the trials and the triumphs that we find along the way. Our Discipleship groups are the intentional environment where we “do life together”, and humbly encourage each other, disciple each other, support and challenge each other in love and grace as we seek to help each other become the total followers of Jesus He has called us all to be.
